SPECIAL GENERAL MEETING:  A Special General Meeting of the Club will be held at the Swanbank Tavern on Sunday 3 June 2012 (Monthly Mug Day).  Breakfast will be provided (free) for members from 9.30 am, with the meeting commencing at 10.00 am.  For catering purposes, please record your name in the Green Book if you intend to attend this meeting, or advise the Club via the same arrangements which you use for Sunday bookings.  All members are encouraged to attend this meeting, as this is to confirm the previously indicated desire of members to change to the Golf Link handicap system, and to review the Club fees for 2012 in light of the potential move to Golf Link.

DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES:  At the recent meeting of the committee, a new local rule was approved and introduced, as follows:  In all competitions conductedby Peninsula Golf Club Inc, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only.  If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his or her play (eg gradient, windspeed, temperature, etc), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used.  In other words, this means that you may not use any type of Smartphone to measure distance when playing in a Club competition.  This is a new rule included in the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Ltd.

The State Championships were played on the weekend of Saturday 5 May 2012 and Sunday 6 May 2012.  Peninsula were represented by a good number of members, and all players are to be congratulated on their individual performances. In particular, congratulations go to Ken Ryan, who is the new WAGL State Champion, having beaten Danny Luders by 1 stroke. A fine 72 off the stick on Sunday, after an 81 on Saturday overcame a consistent Danny who had 77 off the bat on both days.
